Today’s customer spotlight features a steampunk gear oil painting pendant.
When the customer approached me she wasn’t entirely sure what she wanted, but one of her ideas was a sort of ’steampunk-inspired’ gear or cog like the insides of a pocket watch. I have done a large scale watch-gear themed painting before (three by four feet to be exact) so it was definitely an interesting challenge to translate it to a much, much smaller scale.

Today’s customer spotlight features a pair of abstract landscape oil painting pendants.
When I was approached for this commission, the details were pretty vague: “Green and tan-brown wavy lines, like the lines a rake makes in a zen garden.”
Oh, like an abstract landscape? We discussed it and she agreed that was exactly what she was looking for. My first attempt (pictured above) was too literal and too grey-green for my tastes but I finished it anyways because I liked it. The second one (pictured below) was just right and exactly what she was looking for.
It all turned out for the best, because the first pendant I had painted reminded her of one time she visited Banff when it was raining. She took both then, happily.

If you haven’t been to my Etsy shop today, I’ve launched my new line: Oil Painting Pendants!
I’ve got a whole post dedicated to describing in detail what exactly goes into making my pendants, and what makes them so special, so check that out if you’re curious. And I’ve already got a second batch curing and they should be ready to list in a couple of days. Fun!
I also have a couple more surprises up my sleeve, but that’s hush-hush for now. I can say that I’ll be making at least two more very exciting announcements in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned!

So you might be thinking, what exactly are “oil painting pendants”, what does that mean? And I’m here to answer those questions for you.
My oil painting pendants are small original works of art that you can wear. Each piece is meticulously hand painted with artist quality Windsor Newton water-mixable oil paints, onto a silver plated or alloy metal pendant.
After the paint has dried completely, I coat the pieces with with a layer of epoxy resin. The coating protects the oil painting from damage, dust, and the elements. The resin is water resistant.
I paint each pendant either from photos I’ve taken myself, from life, or from my imagination. Each pendant is unique, hand-crafted with love, and precious. I make every one from start to finish and each piece matters to me.
To me, fine art is art that has a timeless appeal, personal importance, and value. Lovely works that inspire and beautify your life. An heirloom to pass down through the generations.
I’ve created the oil painting pendants so that you can carry this fine art with you. Fine art to match your mood, your personality, your interests.. or your shoes.
Art to fit your lifestyle. Art made for you.
Fine art you can wear.
